Update your fast facts. Now.
MAC has been snooping around and found that numerous Web sites and publications included outdated information about the university. When we finished complaining we realized we were outdated too! But no more. We’ve got a new enrollment number, research expenditures and financial aid figures. Our students come from more than 70 countries and 49 states. Anybody know a kid from North Dakota we can enroll? Here’s the link to the new stuff: http://mac.wayne.edu/pdf/fastfacts.pdf

We love when you write press releases!
But please make sure that you include accurate tag lines describing the university. We’ve seen some wacky stuff lately. Try this: Wayne State University is a premier urban research university offering more than 350 academic programs through 13 schools and colleges to nearly 32,000 students.

The Freshman 15
We’ve all heard that the average freshman gains 15 pounds during the first year of living in the dorms. Now we know why – Wayne State students ate 54,000 burgers and 100 miles of pizza slices last year! 34,520 orders of chicken tenders! We don’t know how many gallons of ranch dressing that required. Our friends at AVI Foodsystems gave us some stats about what was served at the Towers Café, Warrior Dining and Warrior Grille, and designer Joy Reed put it together in a fun cartoon form that you can drop into publications or onto your Web site. Check it out: http://mac.wayne.edu/pdf/food_facts.pdf

New Web site for athletics
Joique Bell isn’t the only thing rocking Wayne State athletics – there’s a new Web site, too. With a more user-friendly format, readers can reach individual sports or obtain schedules with just one click. A blog and online store are on the way. It links from wayne.edu, or visit wsuathletics.com.

Alvin’s update
No, not the chipmunks -- the bar. It recently reopened after at least a decade’s disappearance, and we hope it once again becomes a north-campus mainstay. A small but tasty menu is affordably priced – burger and fries for $3.25! – and happy hour is 4 to 7 p.m. weekdays and there’s free Wi-Fi. Stop by and support a new(er) campus business. 5756 Cass, just north of AAB.
