Hiring: Web Content Assistant position (part-time)

Web Communications (within Marketing and Communications) is looking for a content student assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate is a good communicator, a self-starter and eager to learn new things. We are searching for a student who understands the basics of web content/editing and can provide support to the content team staff. The student will be responsible for handling the flow of events and news promotions, requests, page reviews/edits, and other content-driven tasks as appropriate.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Web Content Administrators, you will be responsible for:

  • A basic understanding of HTML and familiarity with content management systems
  • A basic understanding of user experience and accessibility
  • Comfort editing pages in a content management system
  • Experience resizing and optimizing images for the web
  • The ability to follow verbal and written directions with an eye for detail
  • Create internal requests to move tasks and projects forward
  • Handle web requests when necessary - Complete the request or elevate it to a staff member when additional assistance is needed, or it is a larger request.
  • Follow university guidelines and web accessibility standards

Qualifications

  • Available 15-20 hours during the school year with additional availability in the summer
  • Current Wayne State University student
  • Experience with marketing, journalism or another communications-related field
